If the Xbox One is your primary console, then you know how hard it can be to find a headset that has native mic support for the console when compared to the PS4, making it hard to find the best Xbox headset. This makes the gaming headset selection for Xbox slightly limited; however, some good options come in an Xbox variant or work well with both consoles.

We've tested over 650 pairs of headphones, and below are our recommendations for the best gaming headsets for Xbox One to buy. Check out our picks for the best gaming headsets, the best Xbox Series X headsets, and the best gaming headsets under $100.

The best wireless Xbox One headset we've tested is the Astro A50 Gen 4 Wireless 2019. These headphones are available in either a 'PC/PS4' or 'PC/Xbox variant', so it's important to make sure you get the right pair. They come with a base station that ensures a low latency wireless connection. They also have over 17 hours of continuous battery life and have an auto-off timer to help conserve battery life if you forget to turn them off.

These very comfortable over-ears have a well-balanced sound profile that you can customize to your liking using their companion software's graphic EQ and presets. Their passive soundstage also sounds open and natural, which can help immerse you in your game, although it still seems a bit trapped inside your head. Their boom mic delivers a great overall performance, ensuring you're heard clearly, even in noisy environments.

Unfortunately, they don't block out almost any background noise, so if you're easily distracted by the noise around you, it's better to use them in a quiet environment. They also leak a lot of audio at high volumes, which could annoy others around you. That said, these well-built and customizable headphones are among the best gaming headsets we've tested as they're packed full of features, which should please most users.

  2. Best Gaming Headset With Xbox Wireless: SteelSeries Arctis 7X Wireless

    Type Over-ear
    Enclosure Closed-Back
    Wireless Yes
    Noise Cancelling No
    Mic Yes
    Transducer Dynamic

The SteelSeries Arctis 7X Wireless are the best gaming headphones with Xbox Wireless for the Xbox One that we've tested. These comfortable headphones come with a wireless USB dongle that offers low audio latency. They also come with a 1/8" TRRS cable, so you can use them wired if you prefer.

They have under 24 hours of continuous battery life, making them suitable for multi-hour gaming marathons. Out-of-the-box, their v-shaped sound profile delivers extra boom, which can help emphasize sound effects. That said, you can also adjust their sound to your liking using their companion software's graphic EQ and presets. If you like to chat with others while you game, their boom mic offers great recording quality too, and it can separate your voice from moderate ambient noise around you.

Unfortunately, due to their ski-band headband design, they're prone to inconsistencies in audio delivery, and you may need to adjust their fit, positioning, and seal each time you use them. They also struggle to block out background noise, which can be an issue if you game near an open window with traffic outside. However, if you're looking for comfortable and customizable headphones that support Xbox Wireless, they should please most users.

  3. Best Wired Xbox One Gaming Headset: Astro A40 TR + MixAmp 2019

    8.1
    Neutral Sound
    4.3

    5.5

    8.2
    Wired Gaming
    6.9
    Phone Calls
    Type Over-ear
    Enclosure Open-Back
    Wireless No
    Noise Cancelling No
    Mic Yes
    Transducer Dynamic

The Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro 2019 is the best Xbox One headset with a wired design that we've tested. These headphones have a MixAmp, which has channel mixing and volume knobs directly on them so that you can tweak your settings on the fly. You can also use the MixAmp to cycle through EQ presets or access their virtual soundstage feature.

These over-ears have a great build quality comfortable enough to wear for long gaming marathons. Their warm default sound profile delivers a bit of extra boom, which can help emphasize sound effects while you game. Since they're also compatible with Astro Command Center software, you can adjust their sound to your liking using the graphic EQ and presets. Their boom mic offers great overall performance, ensuring you're heard clearly, even in noisy environments.

Unfortunately, their open-back design means they don't block out background noise. They also leak audio at high volumes, which could annoy others around you. However, one of the benefits of this design is that they can produce a more open and spacious soundstage that can help immerse you in your gameplay.

  4. CLOSED-BACK ALTERNATIVE: STEELSERIES ARCTIS PRO GAMEDAC

    Type Over-ear
    Enclosure Closed-Back
    Wireless No
    Noise Cancelling No
    Mic Yes
    Transducer Dynamic

If you're looking for headphones with a closed-back design, go for the SteelSeries Arctis Pro GameDAC. While their passive soundstage doesn't seem as spacious or natural as that created by the open-back Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro 2019, the SteelSeries can block out a bit more background noise and leak less audio at high volumes. These headphones also come with a DAC that allows you to switch between different EQ presets or activate the surround sound feature on the fly. Although the Xbox doesn't support standard USB audio, you can change your Xbox's audio settings to use the DAC. However, you can't use their mic with this connection unless you're using the Xbox app on another device to chat. That said, out-of-the-box, they have a fairly neutral sound profile, although their audio delivery can vary due to the headphones' fit, seal, and position on your head. Their boom mic offers good overall performance, ensuring you're heard clearly, even if there's moderate background noise around you.

Go for the Astro if you're looking for wired headphones with a more immersive passive soundstage. If you want to reduce audio bleed while you're gaming, try the SteelSeries instead.

    Phone Calls
    Type Over-ear
    Enclosure Closed-Back
    Wireless No
    Noise Cancelling No
    Mic Yes
    Transducer Dynamic

The best Xbox One gaming headset in the budget category we've tested is the HyperX Cloud Alpha S. These wired headphones have a unique bass slider feature on each ear cup so that you can independently adjust the amount of bass each driver produces. With both sliders turned up, they have a boomy sound profile that can help emphasize sound effects.

These over-ears have a comfortable fit suitable for long gaming marathons and come with two different pairs of ear cup padding to help you get the best fit. They're very well-built, thanks to their aluminum frame and detachable braided audio cable. If you like to game with others, their boom mic does a good job recording speech, even in moderately noisy environments.

While they have companion software, it doesn't offer much customization. They're also prone to inconsistencies in audio delivery and struggle to block out background sound, which could be frustrating if you're gaming near an open window with traffic outside. However, if you're looking for more wallet-friendly Xbox One headphones, they're a solid choice.

    Phone Calls
    Type Over-ear
    Enclosure Closed-Back
    Wireless No
    Noise Cancelling No
    Mic Yes
    Transducer Dynamic

The best cheap Xbox One gaming headset that we've tested is the Logitech G432 Gaming Headset. These wired headphones have a boom microphone that delivers an excellent overall performance. It can capture your voice clearly, even in noisy environments.

These headphones have a somewhat warm sound profile that delivers extra boom to your mixes, which can help emphasize sound effects. That said, their mid-range is fairly flat and neutral, so dialogue and instruments are present, clear, and accurate. They also have a lightweight and comfortable fit, which is good if you're gaming for long periods.

Unfortunately, they can only connect to your Xbox One console by plugging in their 1/8" TRRS cable into your controller. While they have companion software, you can't use it while gaming on Xbox. Their build quality is very plasticky overall, too. However, they offer an affordable yet solid performance at this price point, which should please most users.

Our recommendations above are what we think are currently the best Xbox One headsets for most people to buy in each price range. We factor in the price (cheaper headphones win over pricier ones if the difference isn't worth it), feedback from our visitors, and availability (no headphones that are difficult to find or almost out of stock everywhere).

If you would like to choose for yourself, here is the list of all our reviews for headsets, sorted by Xbox One compatibility. Be careful not to get caught up in the details.
